Loods 6

Loods 6 is a warehouse on the waterfront of KNSM Island featuring large windows and industrial architecture from the 1920s manufacturing era. The building stretches along the water's edge and displays typical characteristics of the industrial construction methods of that period.

The building was constructed in 1922 by the KNSM shipping company and served as a central luggage facility for maritime operations. Late in the 20th century it was repurposed and later designated as a protected monument.

The building now houses art galleries, design studios, and exhibition spaces where local and international artists display their work. You can walk through the rooms and see how creative people use the space to present contemporary art and design.

The location is on KNSM Island and is easy to reach on foot or by bicycle. It makes sense to visit during daytime hours when galleries and shops are open and the waterfront is most appealing in natural light.

The building originally handled passenger luggage for ships, sorting and storing baggage before it transformed into a center for art and craft. This unexpected conversion shows how the city has repurposed old industrial spaces into places for creativity.
