Norne, Offshore oil and gas field in Norwegian Sea, Norway
Norne is an offshore oil and gas field in the Norwegian Sea operated through a floating production storage and offloading unit. This vessel is anchored to the seabed at 380 meters depth and processes hydrocarbons from multiple wells simultaneously.
The field was discovered in 1992 and started production in November 1997 within blocks 6608/10 and 6608/11 of the Norwegian continental shelf. Its successful operation later enabled the connection of satellite fields that expanded the overall development.
The Norne field represents Norway's commitment to efficient energy resource management through strict governmental regulations and sustainable extraction practices.
The field is only accessible by helicopter or aircraft since it sits approximately 200 kilometers offshore. Access is strictly restricted to authorized personnel with proper safety certifications and training for offshore operations.
The installation connects to four satellite fields named Alve, Urd, Skuld, and Marulk that feed their production back to the central processing unit. This network allows resources from separate discoveries to be handled efficiently through one facility.
