Kristiansand Cannon Museum, Military museum in Møvik, Norway
The Kristiansand Cannon Museum is a military museum housed in a former German coastal defense installation near Møvik. The collection displays weapons, equipment, and infrastructure from the period along with the construction methods used for the fortifications.
The installation was built between 1941 and 1944 as part of Germany's strategy to control the waters in the Skagerrak region. It was one of many defense lines along the Norwegian coast during World War II.
The museum shows how coastal defense shaped daily life during wartime and what role it played for local communities. Exhibits allow visitors to understand this period through personal objects and documents left behind.
Access is by bus route M1 from Kristiansand or by car along E39 toward Stavanger, then via R456 and R457. The museum sits about 8 kilometers (5 miles) west of Kristiansand city center.
The centerpiece is a massive cannon with a 38-centimeter caliber and a 110-ton barrel measuring 20 meters long. This weapon ranks among the largest land-based guns still in existence today.
