Verdens Ende, Coastal viewpoint in Færder, Norway
Verdens Ende sits at the southern tip of Tjøme island in Færder municipality and features a reconstructed tilting lantern lighthouse alongside a working port. The site includes walking platforms that connect to nearby islets and houses a restaurant.
The name came from early 1900s tourists who viewed this location as the edge of their known world. Local fishermen, however, had sailed far beyond this point for generations before that era.
The visitor center displays exhibits about the region's maritime traditions and how local communities have long depended on the North Sea. You can see how these coastal traditions shape daily life in this area.
The location is roughly a 30-minute drive from Tønsberg and offers parking areas and a restaurant. The walking paths to the water and nearby islets are easy to navigate for most visitors.
This location marks the finish line of a 161-kilometer ultramarathon that begins in Oslo. Runners complete an exhausting journey across land and coastline to reach this final point each year.
