Bærum town hall, Municipal administrative center in Bærum Municipality, Norway

Bærum Town Hall is the municipal administrative center in Bærum Municipality with a neo-Gothic bell tower, located on the east bank of the Sandvikselv river. The building houses the city council, municipal leadership, and provides services that local residents need for their everyday administrative matters.

Construction of the town hall took place between 1927 and 1963, following architectural plans by Magnus Poulsson for the municipal administration. The building developed gradually as Bærum expanded and the community needed a larger administrative center.

The Freedom statue and Elements fountain, both by Arnold Haukeland, stand in front of the building and shape how the space feels. These works are part of everyday life for people who pass by or spend time in this area.

The main entrance is on the east side facing the river, making it easy to find and offering a pleasant view of the surroundings. The building is accessible from nearby streets and has space for visitors who need to use administrative services.

The bell tower contains a carillon with 25 bells installed in 1974 that plays a composition by Geirr Tveitt every hour. This hourly chime makes the building memorable and gives the town center a musical identity.
