Oseberg South, Offshore oil and gas field in North Sea, Norway
Oseberg South is an offshore platform in the North Sea off the coast of Norway designed for oil and gas production. The installation rests on a steel structure and operates multiple wells to extract crude oil and natural gas from reservoirs beneath the seabed.
The platform started operations in 2000 and functions as an extension of the larger Oseberg Field. It has since contributed to increasing Norway's oil production in the North Sea.
The petroleum infrastructure of Oseberg South represents Norwegian engineering excellence in offshore resource management and advanced maritime industrial development.
The platform lies several kilometers out in open sea and can only be reached by special vessels or helicopters. Access is restricted to authorized personnel only.
The platform directs extracted oil through an integrated transport system back to the Oseberg Field Centre before final delivery to the Sture terminal.
