Grinimuseet, World War II memorial museum in Bærum Municipality, Norway
Grinimuseet occupies an authentic barrack building moved from the original prison camp location and completely renovated in 2015. The museum presents the history of the camp through exhibits and interactive presentations.
The camp operated from June 1941 to May 1945 and held approximately 20,000 Norwegian prisoners from various professional backgrounds. It was one of the major German prison facilities during the occupation of Norway.
The exhibits tell personal stories of those held there through photographs, recordings, and everyday objects from their time as prisoners. These items give visitors a direct sense of how people lived through this difficult period.
The site is open Thursday to Sunday between 11:00 and 16:00 during summer months. Groups should book in advance to arrange a visit.
The museum uses virtual reality technology to immerse visitors in a digital recreation of the historical camp environment. This digital experience allows people to understand the spatial layout and conditions in a direct way.
