Politihuset, Oslo, Police headquarters in Grønland, Norway
Politihuset is the Oslo police district headquarters located at Grønlandsleiret 44, featuring two wings of different heights with concrete and glass facades. The building houses operational centers, specialized police units, and detention areas serving the neighborhoods in central Oslo.
The architects Telje-Torp-Aasen completed this structure in 1978, using modern concrete and glass to meet urban policing needs. The project later received recognition through the Houens Fonds diploma and the Betongtavlen award for its design quality.
The building was designed with consideration for its surroundings, as its height was intentionally kept lower than the adjacent Grønland Church. This design choice reflects respect for existing architectural landmarks in the neighborhood.
The facility has multiple access points with an elevated entrance path and a separate structure accessed from Åkebergveien containing additional services. Visitors should know that this site is not open to the public and is only accessible for official police business.
The site features a two-level structure with distinct sections, where the lower level is separately accessed from Åkebergveien for operational functions. This split design makes practical use of the sloped terrain in this densely developed urban area.
