Skistua, Ski lodge in Bymarka, Norway
Skistua is a ski lodge located in Bymarka, the forested area outside Trondheim, offering a contemporary cafe, restaurant, and meeting spaces. It provides direct access to approximately 250 kilometers of cross-country skiing trails that crisscross the surrounding landscape.
The lodge was established in 1896 and experienced wartime occupation during World War II, followed by a devastating fire in 1947. Complete renovation took place decades later after a period of decline in the 1990s.
The lodge serves as a gathering place where winter sports enthusiasts meet and share meals featuring Norwegian specialties like fresh waffles. These simple food traditions create a welcoming atmosphere for visitors during their time on the slopes.
The lodge is located about 20 minutes from Trondheim's center along Fjellseterveien and can be reached by car or public transport. Equipment rental for skis and boots is available on site if you need to borrow gear.
The trails maintain natural snow throughout the winter season without relying on artificial snow making. This allows visitors to experience the terrain under authentic winter conditions while enjoying varied difficulty levels.
