Scandic Park Hotel, hotell in Sandefjord
Scandic Park Hotel is an eight-story building located on the waterfront in Sandefjord, Norway. It offers rooms with fjord views, multiple dining venues, and recreational facilities including saunas and fitness areas.
The hotel opened in 1960 as the Rica Park Hotel and was the largest and most upscale establishment in the region at that time. It replaced an earlier spa complex and was designed by architect Arnstein Arneberg.
The hotel takes its name from its proximity to Badeparken, a local park area that shapes the identity of the waterfront. Visitors can observe how the building fits into this green landscape and how the maritime culture of Sandefjord remains present through details such as the whale jawbone arch displayed outside.
The hotel sits near the harbor and is easily walkable from the town center. This location makes day trips to nearby attractions convenient and provides direct access to parks and waterfront promenades.
In 1967, a heated seawater pool and spa were added, transforming the hotel into a wellness destination. Visitors today can still see the original architecture blended with these modern amenities.
