Súbic is a coastal municipality along the northern coast of Subic Bay, situated about 66 kilometers from the provincial capital of Iba. The area rises about 60 meters above sea level and is divided into 16 barangays.
Spanish explorer Juan de Salcedo founded the settlement in 1572 during his expedition northward through Luzon. Augustinian friars arrived in 1607 to convert the local population.
The 16 barangays maintain local traditions through celebrations featuring regional dances and music performances that reflect community heritage. Traditional food preparation methods are also practiced and shared during these gatherings, connecting residents to their past.
The Olongapo-Bugallon Road connects the municipality to Manila, about 138 kilometers away, and to Olongapo, just 12 kilometers from town. This main route makes traveling in and out convenient for visitors.
The former naval base transformed into the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, creating an economic hub where maritime facilities blend with commerce. This conversion has reshaped the local economy and continues to draw business visitors.
