Malacañang Palace, Presidential palace in San Miguel, Philippines
The Spanish colonial style palace stretches along the northern bank of the Pasig River with ornate patios, arches, and window grilles.
Built in 1750 as a private summerhouse for Don Luis Rocha, the palace became the official residence of Filipino presidents after independence in the 1940s.
The Reception Hall displays an extensive collection of portraits depicting every Philippine president who has served in the presidential office since independence.
Multiple buildings within the palace complex include guesthouses, government offices, and Kalayaan Hall, which functions as a historical museum.
The palace survived World War II bombings while many surrounding government buildings experienced substantial damage during the conflict.
