SM City Manila, Shopping mall in Ermita, Philippines
SM City Manila is a five-story shopping center in Ermita covering around 166,000 square meters with department stores, supermarkets, cinemas and many restaurants spread across its floors. The different levels hold a wide range of shops and services organized to meet various visitor needs.
The shopping center opened in April 2000 on the site of a former YMCA building, becoming the first SM Supermall to open directly in Manila City. This opening marked an important shift in how the downtown retail area developed.
The shopping center sits near several universities including Lyceum and Adamson, serving as a meeting place where students and young professionals gather regularly.
The shopping center opens daily from 10 AM to 10 PM and provides free Wi-Fi throughout the building. The location connects easily to public transportation options in the area.
A 2008 renovation replaced ceramic tiles with granite throughout the shopping center, refreshing its overall look. At the same time, this location became the second site to rebrand its department store as SM Store.
