Tinaga Island, Beach island in Vinzons, Philippines
Tinaga Island is a roughly 8-kilometer-long island in the Calaguas archipelago with two inhabited settlements. Its northern coast features Mahabang Buhangin, a wide sandy beach that runs along much of the shoreline.
Two communities, Barangay Mangcawayan and Barangay Pinagtigasan, were established by local people generations ago. The island has kept its natural character through the centuries without major development.
The small population here depends on fishing, and you can see their boats and nets along the shore as part of their everyday routine. The sea shapes how people live and work on this island.
You get there by taking a bus to Daet, then transportation to a port in Paracale or Vinzons for a boat trip. Plan extra time since connections are not always frequent.
The sand at Mahabang Buhangin beach shifts in color from bright white to golden brown and gray tones. These natural color variations come from different minerals mixed into the sand.
