Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine, Colonial house museum in Kawit, Philippines.
Baldomero Aguinaldo Shrine is a two-story house with blue-green and white painted walls, three windows on each side, and traditional Filipino architectural details. The interior holds two bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, and living room arranged as they would have been during the early 1900s.
Built in 1906, the house was home to Baldomero Aguinaldo, who served as Secretary of War in the early Philippine Republic under his cousin Emilio. It became a national shrine to commemorate this period of Philippine independence efforts.
The rooms display everyday objects and family belongings that show how the household operated during the early 1900s. You can see how people organized their daily life, from cooking practices to sleeping arrangements and social spaces.
The house is open to visitors who can tour all rooms with guides who explain the displayed items and daily life of that era. Wear comfortable shoes since the stairs between floors are steep and narrow.
The kitchen floor uses bamboo slats, a traditional Filipino building technique that improved air flow throughout the space. This construction method was practical for the tropical climate and helped keep rooms naturally cooler.
