Mother of All Asia–Tower of Peace, Religious monument in Batangas City, Philippines.
The Mother of All Asia-Tower of Peace is a religious monument in Batangas City, Philippines, rising 96 meters from concrete and steel. A crown with twelve stars sits atop the figure, which contains several inhabited floors inside.
Construction began in 2014 as part of the celebrations marking 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines. The work was completed in 2021, combining religious architecture with habitable spaces.
Twelve Marian chapels inside display devotional forms from different Asian countries, each with its own liturgical design. Pilgrims from the region visit the chapels one after another, following a spiritual route through the building.
An elevator takes visitors to the observation platform in the crown, or more than 400 steps lead upward. The platform offers views all around the coastal region and sits directly beneath the twelve stars.
Residential and commercial spaces are integrated into the lower floors, making this statue of the Virgin Mary the first habitable one of its kind. The Saint John Paul II Shrine also sits within the building, adding to the religious functions.
