Sorsogon Cathedral

Sorsogon Cathedral, dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, occupies a central location in the city with views toward Sorsogon Bay. The building displays neo-Gothic architecture with stone walls, pointed arches, and religious artwork inside.

The cathedral was founded in 1628 as a simple structure of nipa and bamboo, then rebuilt in stone by 1660. A major earthquake in 1954 destroyed the original bell tower, leading to a complete reconstruction in neo-Gothic style.

The cathedral is dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul and serves as the spiritual center of the local community. People gather here for religious celebrations, making it a gathering place that reflects the city's Catholic traditions.

You can reach the cathedral within about one hour by van from Legazpi City, with the transport terminal very close to the site. The central location makes it easy to visit and combine with other city sights on foot.
