Banjosa Lake

Banjosa Lake is an artificial water reservoir in the Azad Kashmir region, situated at 1,981 meters elevation surrounded by dense pine forests and mountains. The basin is framed by forested slopes that create a sheltered setting for the body of water.

The reservoir was developed over time to store water for the Poonch region, with major infrastructure improvements enhancing its capacity and function. These upgrades transformed it into an important water management asset for the local community.

During winter months, freezing temperatures transform the lake surface into a sheet of ice that visitors can walk and play on. This seasonal change offers a completely different experience from the rest of the year and draws those interested in winter activities.
