Rasul Barrage, Water control barrage in Mandi Bahauddin District, Pakistan

Rasul Barrage is a water control structure that stretches across the Jhelum River, equipped with gates to regulate the water flow through the region. The installation channels water via the Rasul-Qadirabad link canal to irrigate farmland across the Punjab.

The structure was completed in 1968, replacing an earlier British-era barrage from colonial times. This development represented a significant shift in Pakistan's modern water management approach.

The area around the structure draws local fishermen who continue their traditional practices, relying on the river's resources as their families have done for generations.

The best time to visit is during the dry season when you can clearly see the gates in operation and the surrounding pathways remain accessible. Bring sun protection, as there is little shade in the area.

Beside the barrage sits a hydroelectric plant that generates power while supporting irrigation across a vast agricultural area. This dual purpose makes the complex a key resource for both energy production and farming in the region.
