Warsaw Stock Exchange, Stock exchange in Warsaw, Poland
The Warsaw Stock Exchange is a trading platform for stocks and bonds housed in the Exchange Center Building on Książęca Street. The trading floors span several stories with electronic display boards and offices for brokers and analysts.
The exchange opened in 1991 after Poland left the communist system and moved to market economy. Only five companies were initially listed, but the platform grew quickly into the largest in Eastern Europe.
The trading floor attracts economics students who come to learn about modern Polish finance. Seminars on investment and corporate management take place regularly in the center's rooms.
Trading sessions run Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 17:00, with a closing auction from 17:00 to 17:05. Visitors should note that access to the trading floors is typically available only through scheduled tours or events.
The exchange holds the world's highest concentration of listed gaming companies. This collection surpasses even the Tokyo Stock Exchange in this field.
