Ustka, Baltic Sea resort in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
Ustka is a town on the coast in the Słupsk County of Pomeranian Voivodeship. The Słupia River divides the settlement and flows into the Baltic Sea here, creating two beach areas on either side.
A fishing settlement named Ujść existed here since the ninth century. In 1382 the place joined the Hanseatic League through Słupsk and developed into a trading port afterward.
The name comes from the Polish word for mouth, referring to where the river meets the sea. Visitors find cafés and shops along the promenade, while locals still use the harbor for fishing.
Travelers reach the town by train or bus from Słupsk, where regular connections run throughout the day. The eastern beach side sits closer to restaurants and other facilities, while the western side stays quieter.
A fireworks contest takes place in July and draws participants from several countries. The facilities here use mineral water and mud deposits for therapeutic purposes, complemented by the air from nearby pine forests.
