Brzesko

Brzesko is a city in Lesser Poland Voivodeship situated along a major railway line in southern Poland. It sits roughly 50 kilometers east of Kraków and serves as a regional connection point for the surrounding area.

The city received its charter in 1385 when Queen Jadwiga authorized Spytko II of Melsztyn to establish this settlement. Three military cemeteries built during World War I mark its role in the larger conflicts of the twentieth century.

The Church of St. Jacob in the town center reflects medieval building traditions that shaped the local landscape. The settlement developed as a trading hub with a significant Jewish community that left lasting marks on its character.
