Giżycko County, Administrative district in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Poland
Giżycko County encompasses 1,118 square kilometers of land between Lakes Kisajno and Niegocin, containing six distinct administrative subdivisions called gminas.
The territory gained its current administrative structure in 1999 during Poland's local government reforms, establishing Giżycko as the main administrative center.
The region maintains strong connections to Masurian heritage through its lakes, historical architecture, and traditional local customs preserved in rural communities.
The county includes two principal urban centers: Giżycko with 29,335 residents and Ryn with 2,851 inhabitants, while rural areas house 24,475 people.
The administrative region contains multiple interconnected lakes forming part of the Great Masurian Lakes system, creating natural boundaries between its municipalities.
