Krasiejów

Krasiejów is a village in Opole Voivodeship with two paleontological museums and a recreational park called JuraPark, all focused on fossils from the Late Triassic period. JuraPark features over 200 dinosaur models, a 3D time tunnel, educational workshops, and recreational facilities including a beach area.

The village originated in the 13th century and experienced multiple shifts in rule under Bohemian, Prussian, and German administration before returning to Poland. These territorial changes shaped the area over centuries.

The two paleontological museums display collections of Triassic tetrapods and fossilized plants that help visitors understand the diversity of prehistoric life in this area. These finds come directly from excavations nearby, connecting the museum displays to the local landscape.

The best way to explore is to visit the museums first to better understand the excavation sites in the surrounding area. JuraPark is easy to access with pathways suitable for different mobility levels.

Scientists discovered complete skeletons of Silesaurus opolensis and Polonosuchus silesiacus here, two species rarely found elsewhere in Europe. These discoveries made the site one of the most important locations for understanding Europe's Triassic wildlife.
