Wanda Mound, Ancient summit in Nowa Huta district, Krakow, Poland

The circular earthen mound reaches 14 meters in height and measures 50 meters at its base, standing at 238 meters above sea level.

The first written documentation of this burial mound dates to the 13th century, with archaeological investigations conducted in 1913 and the 1960s.

Local traditions connect the mound to Princess Wanda, who according to legend chose death in the Vistula River rather than marry a German prince.

The summit remains open throughout the year and visitors can access the site by taking a tram to the nearby stations in Nowa Huta.

A monument featuring a white Polish eagle on red granite, designed by artist Jan Matejko, marks the top of the mound since 1890.
