Holy Cross Basilica in Kraków Mogiła

The basilica features a Latin cross layout with Renaissance polychromy decorating the presbytery walls, transept, and southern chapel dating from the 16th century.

The stone and brick church was constructed in 1266 as part of a Cistercian monastery complex, following an invitation from Bishop Iwo Odrowąż to monks from Lubiąż.

The main altar contains a late Gothic polyptych from 1514 displaying a statue of the Virgin Mary with Child and detailed scenes from Christ's life.

The basilica maintains regular worship services and allows visitors to explore the chapel, cloisters, chapter house, former calefactory, and monastery garden during daylight hours.

The wooden crucifix from the 14th century survived a devastating fire in 1447, and now features real human hair and fabric additions to the Christ figure.
