Błażowa, Municipality in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland
Błażowa is a municipality in Subcarpathian Voivodeship in southeastern Poland. It sits at approximately 230 meters elevation and has the typical structures of a small rural community.
The town received its official rights around 1770 during the Habsburg era. A major fire in 1907 destroyed many wooden structures and forced the community to rebuild.
Traditional architecture shows influences of Polish and Austrian styles from the period of Habsburg rule. Visitors can see this blend when walking through the streets in the remaining buildings.
The town has regular bus connections to Rzeszów, making it accessible for visitors from the larger city. It is helpful to allow time for walking around, as the community is relatively small and compact.
The town was the home of an important Hasidic dynasty founded by Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech Spira. This rabbinical line, known as the Bluzhover line, had significant influence on Jewish thought in the region.
