Słupca County, Administrative district in Greater Poland, Poland
Słupca County is an administrative district in west-central Poland covering an area of about 837 square kilometers. The territory includes the town of Słupca and seven rural municipalities with a mix of farmland, lakes, and forested patches.
The county was formed in 1999 as part of Poland's major administrative reorganization that redrew district boundaries across the country. The settlements within it have much deeper roots, with some communities tracing back to the 13th century.
The region reflects Greater Poland's traditional ways, where local crafts and seasonal celebrations remain part of everyday community life. You can experience these customs at local gatherings and in the small town centers.
Słupca serves as the administrative center and is well-connected by rail to larger cities in the region. Poznań, the main regional hub, lies about 66 kilometers to the west and offers broader services and amenities.
Within the territory sits Lake Powidz, a large lake with an unusual past as a former military aviation training ground. The lake and surrounding area contain hidden bunkers from earlier eras that remain as traces of a complex history.
