Andrespol, Administrative village in Łódź East County, Poland
Andrespol is a village in the Łódź Voivodeship of central Poland and serves as the seat of the surrounding municipality that shares its name. The village has schools, a health center, and public buildings that serve both local residents and people from nearby settlements.
The village was founded in 1807 when Magdalena von Jordan-Tuchecka brought 29 families from Pomerania to settle here, and the place was first called Andreasfeld. The German name reflected the origin of those first settlers, and over time it gradually evolved into the Polish form used today.
Andrespol sits close to Łódź, and many residents commute to the city while keeping their daily life rooted in the village. Local squares and green spaces are where families spend time together, especially on weekends.
Andrespol is easy to reach from Łódź, as the village sits just outside the eastern edge of the city and is well connected by local roads. Once there, the main public facilities are grouped near the center and can be reached on foot.
The families who settled here in 1807 were granted a six-year exemption from taxes in exchange for clearing the land and building with their own resources. This type of arrangement was common across the region at the time and helped attract settlers from northern Europe.
