Kolbuszowa County, Administrative district in Subcarpathian Voivodeship, Poland
Kolbuszowa County is a non-metropolitan county in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship of southeastern Poland. It is made up of six municipalities, and the town of Kolbuszowa serves as the administrative center for the whole area.
The county took its current form in 1999 as part of a nationwide administrative reform in Poland that reorganized the country into voivodeships and counties. Many of the boundaries drawn at that time replaced older administrative divisions that had been in place since the communist era.
The six municipalities within this administrative area maintain local celebrations and customs that shape daily life in the Subcarpathian region. Visitors can experience these traditions firsthand during community gatherings and seasonal festivities.
Most services, offices, and points of reference for the county are concentrated in the town of Kolbuszowa, which is the best starting point for exploring the area. The surrounding municipalities are generally reachable by local roads that run across the county.
Much of the land within the county sits on the edge of what was once part of the ancient Sandomierz Primeval Forest, one of the largest lowland forests in medieval Central Europe. Remnants of this old forest cover can still be found in parts of the county today.
