Bukowina Tatrzańska

Bukowina Tatrzańska is a mountain village in Lesser Poland situated at elevations between 860 and 1000 meters near the Slovak border. The settlement offers ski runs with night lighting, a thermal water complex with multiple heated pools, and various facilities for winter recreation.

The village began in the 17th century as a farming and herding community in the Tatra foothills. Tourism development arrived in the early 1900s when its mountain location became valued for recreation.

Local traditions remain visible through folk celebrations and craft demonstrations held throughout the year. These events reflect how mountain communities have preserved their way of life across generations.

The village is best reached by road from Zakopane, roughly 14 kilometers away. Visitors should prepare for mountainous terrain and cold winters, especially if planning winter sports or thermal bath visits.

The settlement regularly hosts finishing stages of the Tour de Pologne, one of Europe's oldest cycling races. This international event brings athletes and spectators to this remote mountain location.
