Strzelno

Strzelno is a town situated along Lake Goplo in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship with two major medieval churches in its center. The place preserves old streets that reflect the original layout of its medieval urban district.

The town was founded in the 12th century and received town rights in 1231, establishing itself as a religious center. A Norbertine monastery complex influenced its growth and importance in the region.

The two churches here display rare Romanesque columns carved with figures representing virtues and vices from medieval times. These sculptures remain visible today and define the spiritual character of the town.

The town center is compact and easy to explore on foot, with main attractions located around the market square. Regional buses connect the place to nearby larger cities like Inowrocław.

Excavations in the town revealed remains of eight medieval rotundas, which is unusual among Polish medieval settlements. A local museum displays findings from these excavations that reveal the early occupation history of the place.
