Sianowo

Sianowo is a village on the eastern shore of Sianowskie Lake in Kartuzy County, positioned about 36 kilometers west of Gdansk in northern Poland. The settlement sits within the landscape of the Pomeranian region, characterized by its lakeside location and rural surroundings.

The village first appeared in written records during 1348 as part of Polish royal territories within the medieval administrative structure. Its origins trace back to the broader history of Pomerania during the Kingdom of Poland period.

The Sanctuary of the Queen of the Kashubs forms the spiritual center of village life, where visitors encounter local traditions and religious customs woven into daily routines. The chapel draws people who share a connection to Kashubian identity and regional practices.

A statue of Mary survived a church fire in 1480 without being damaged, an event that elevated the spiritual reputation of the location. This preserved account of the incident remains woven into the sanctuary's religious significance for pilgrims today.
