Most obrotowy w Giżycku, Steel rotating bridge in Giżycko, Poland

The rotating bridge spans across the Giżycko Canal, connecting Lake Kisajno with Lake Niegocin through a manual turning mechanism operated by a bridge keeper.

Built in 1889 by engineers from Bechelt company, the bridge replaced an earlier structure that collapsed in 1859 due to excessive load.

The bridge forms an essential link between Boyen Fortress and downtown Giżycko, representing a significant example of 19th-century engineering in Masuria.

The bridge rotation process takes approximately five minutes, allowing boats to pass through the canal for thirty-minute intervals during summer navigation.

The steel structure measures 20 meters in length and 8 meters in width, functioning as one of only two manually operated rotating bridges in Europe.
