Jeziorak

Jeziorak is a large lake in the Warmian-Masurian region that stretches for several kilometers with a jagged shoreline dotted with bays and several islands. The water varies in depth throughout, creating diverse habitats for plants and wildlife.

The lake basin formed during the last glacial period when melting glaciers carved deep channels that later filled with water. This geological shaping created the water body as it appears today.

The lake has long been a place where fishing families practice their craft and where people gather for sailing and swimming. The surrounding communities connect through the water and share stories rooted in their relationship with this natural space.

The lake can be accessed from several waterfront locations, where boats are available for rent and fishing gear can be obtained. The main starting point is Iława's shoreline, which has the most visitor facilities.

The largest inland lake island in Europe sits within this water body and once held an ancient Prussian settlement. This island remnant shows traces of human habitation from the early medieval period.
