Piłsudski's Mound, Memorial mound in Zwierzyniec district, Kraków, Poland
The 35-meter-high earthen mound stands at the summit of Sowiniec Hill, marking the highest point among all historical mounds in Kraków.
Construction of the mound began in 1934 and finished in 1937, with soil collected from Polish battlefields to commemorate Marshal Józef Piłsudski.
The structure contains soil from numerous Polish battle sites and execution grounds, representing centuries of national struggle for independence.
Several marked walking trails lead to the mound through Wolski Forest, with the most common route passing near the Kraków Zoo.
The mound offers a gradual panoramic view of Kraków as visitors climb higher, with the city emerging step by step above the forest canopy.
