Donas, Summit in Gdynia, Poland.
Dohnasberg is a summit in Gdynia, Poland, rising to about 206 meters above sea level. A transmission tower stands at the top, adding considerable height and shaping the city's silhouette from many angles.
The name Dohnasberg dates from the period when this region was under German influence, in the early decades of the 20th century. After World War II the area passed to Polish administration, but the old name continued to be used locally.
The transmission tower on the summit is visible from many parts of the city and serves as a reference point for orientation. The observation platform on the tower is a popular spot where locals come to look out over the coastline and the surrounding hills.
The summit can be reached on foot from central Gdynia via several hiking trails, and the steepness varies depending on the route chosen. Sturdy footwear is a good idea, as the ground can change along the way.
Although the transmission tower was built for technical purposes, it includes a publicly accessible observation platform that one would not expect on such a small urban summit. On clear days, from that platform it is possible to see both the Bay of Gdansk and the forested hills inland.
