Rozbark, District in Bytom, Poland
Rozbark is a district in the eastern part of Bytom situated at approximately 280 meters above sea level. The area covers around 8 square kilometers and includes residential complexes such as Pogoda and Zawadzkiego.
The name traces back to its first mention in 1223 as Rosenberg, derived from medieval German terms referring to rose and mountain. The district later became part of Upper Silesia and experienced significant changes during the early 20th century conflicts.
The Theater of Dance and Movement has been operating since 2014 and attracts audiences interested in contemporary movement and performance art throughout the year. Visitors can observe how the venue shapes cultural life in the district by hosting regular events that bring local residents and outsiders together.
The district is walkable and features well-established residential areas with solid infrastructure. Visitors can access local facilities and explore the typical layout of an Upper Silesian residential neighborhood.
During the Silesian uprisings of 1921, local insurgents maintained control of the district despite its later assignment to Germany. This episode left a mark on local memory and remains part of the area's identity today.
