Gmina Chojnów, Administrative district in Legnica County, Poland
Gmina Chojnów is a rural municipality in Legnica County, in the Lower Silesian region of southwestern Poland. It covers a number of villages spread around the town of Chojnów, which belongs to a separate administrative unit.
The municipality took its current form after the 1998 reform that reorganized Poland into regions, counties, and communes. That change also drew the boundary separating the rural commune from the town of Chojnów, which became its own administrative unit at the same time.
The villages preserve local traditions and ways of life that shape the rural character of the region. You can sense in the settlements a strong connection between people and their home communities.
The administrative seat of the rural municipality is in the town of Chojnów, which is a separate unit and not part of the commune itself. Anyone visiting the villages of the area should plan ahead, as the territory is rural and has no single visitor center.
Although the town of Chojnów hosts the administrative offices of the rural commune, the town itself is not part of it, which is a common but often confusing feature of Polish administrative structure. The two units share a name but function as fully separate entities.
