Gmina Wieliszew, Rural municipality in Legionowo County, Poland
Gmina Wieliszew is a rural municipality in Legionowo County, in the Masovian region of east-central Poland. It is made up of several villages set among farmland and forest, close to the Vistula and Bug rivers.
The area around Wieliszew has been settled since the medieval period, when the surrounding villages were established as farming communities. The current administrative structure was set in place during Poland's late 20th-century territorial reforms.
The municipality organizes annual harvest festivals that incorporate traditional farming celebrations with contemporary community gatherings in multiple village locations.
The municipality is mainly a residential area for people who commute to Legionowo or Warsaw, and it has little tourist infrastructure. Visitors travelling through are best served by having their own transport, as the villages are spread out.
The municipality sits near the point where the Vistula and the Bug rivers meet, which has shaped the landscape of the area for a long time. This meeting of two major rivers is one of the most visible natural features when travelling through the region.
