Stalexport Skyscrapers, Twin office skyscrapers in Katowice, Poland.
The Stalexport Skyscrapers are a pair of connected office towers in central Katowice, with the taller reaching 97 meters (318 feet) and the shorter 92 meters (302 feet). They share a three-story base that unites the complex visually and functionally.
Built between 1981 and 1982, these towers served as the headquarters for foreign trade operations and were among the tallest buildings in Poland outside Warsaw at that time. They rose during a period when heavy industry shaped the city's growth.
The towers have housed different types of offices since their opening, reflecting shifts in the city's economic focus over decades. Today they remain an important workplace for various organizations in the region.
The complex can be viewed from street level where visitors can observe the architectural details and scale of the towers. The central location makes it easily accessible from the main train station and downtown areas.
The towers were assembled using an unusual construction method where floor sections were put together from top to bottom using steel cables attached to a reinforced concrete spine. This technique was quite advanced for its time and remains a notable engineering achievement.
