Babka Tower, High-rise building in Śródmieście district, Warsaw, Poland.
Babka Tower is a 105-meter high-rise with a two-part structure consisting of a wide base and a central 28-story tower. The building houses 299 residential apartments, office spaces, an indoor swimming pool on the tenth floor, and a four-level underground parking garage for 675 vehicles.
The building was completed in 2001 by JEMS Architekci, marking a milestone as Poland's first residential building to exceed 100 meters in height. This achievement reflected the growing capabilities and confidence of Polish architecture in the post-independence era.
The name comes from the former Babka Roundabout, which itself was named after a large sand pile discovered during road construction in the 1950s. This connection ties the modern building to the neighborhood's local history.
The building is located near major transport connections and is easily accessible by public transportation, making daily trips convenient for residents and workers. The height of the tower makes it visible from various points around the city and serves as a visual landmark in the district.
Within apartment D13 of this modern high-rise lives a monastery of the Dominican Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. This unexpected presence demonstrates how contemporary architecture and religious community life can coexist in a modern urban setting.
