Gmina Kamienica

Gmina Kamienica is a rural administrative division in the mountainous region of southern Poland, comprising several small villages scattered across the terrain. The municipality covers an area of mixed elevations with landscapes typical of this part of the country.

The municipality took its current administrative form during Poland's local government reforms of 1999, when the country restructured its local administration system. The reorganization brought together various settlements under a single municipal administration.

The residents here belong to the Goral and Lach communities, regional groups with their own distinctive customs and ways of living that shape village life. These traditions remain visible in how people interact and celebrate together throughout the year.

A celebrated mountaineer from this area died in an accident on K2 in the 1980s and is remembered as one of the most accomplished climbers of his era. His legacy connects the local community with the world of international mountaineering.
