Kienesa we Wrocławiu, Historical synagogue site in central Wrocław, Poland

Kienesa we Wrocławiu was a synagogue in the city center built in 1865, distinguished by four towers and a 70-meter dome. The structure occupied a significant amount of space and represented the architectural standards of that era.

The synagogue was constructed in 1865 during a period of growing prosperity and integration of the Jewish community in Wrocław. It was destroyed in 1938, marking a turning point in the city's history and that of its Jewish residents.

This building served as the spiritual center of Wrocław's liberal Jewish community, where worshippers from different backgrounds gathered together. Visitors can sense today how important this place was for the neighborhood's social and religious life.

The site is located near ulica Łąkowa in the city center and is now partly occupied by modern structures including a kindergarten and student parking areas. To understand the history of this location, it helps to research the site and its significance before visiting.

Archaeological excavations at the site uncovered terracotta tiles, granite foundations, and sections of the original perimeter wall, which remain documented today. These remains help visitors understand the physical presence of the building that has long since disappeared.
