Nowe Czaple, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Village in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland
Nowe Czaple is a small village in Gmina Stężyca, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland, sitting near two lakes, Ostrzyckie and Sołeckie. The houses are spread out among fields and woods, with narrow streets mostly suited for walking or slow traffic.
Nowe Czaple was formerly part of Gdańsk Voivodeship and was moved into the Pomeranian Voivodeship in the late 1990s when Poland reorganized its administrative regions. The village sits in the heart of Kashubia, a land with its own distinct language and long farming traditions.
The village is best reached by car, as public transport options are very limited and roads in the area are narrow. Once there, walking and cycling are the most natural ways to explore the surrounding lakes, woods, and country paths.
Just outside the village lies the Ostrzycki Las nature reserve, a wooded area surrounded on three sides by the waters of Lake Ostrzyckie. This gives the reserve an almost island-like feel, making it one of the more unusual protected spots in the Kashubian region.
