Kashubian Landscape Park, Nature reserve in Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland.

The Kashubian Landscape Park is a protected area in Pomerania, northwestern Poland, covering forested hills, lakes, and wetlands shaped by glaciers during the last ice age. It sits in and around the gmina of Chmielno and is known for having some of the most varied terrain found anywhere in the Polish lowlands.

The area has been settled since prehistoric times, as shown by burial mounds and finds from the Bronze and Iron Ages scattered across the hills. Over the centuries, different Slavic groups made this territory their home before it became part of the Polish state.

The Kashubian people who live in and around this area have their own language, still spoken in schools and everyday life today. Visitors passing through local villages can spot painted house facades, wooden architecture, and small markets where handmade goods and regional food are sold.

The park has a network of marked trails for walking and cycling, and some of the lakes are open for paddling. Weather can change quickly, so bringing layers and waterproof gear is a good idea before heading out.

The park sits at the heart of an area nicknamed the Kashubian Switzerland, a name given by German tourists in the 19th century who were reminded of Alpine scenery by the rolling hills. That nickname has stuck and can still be found on signs and in local guides throughout the region.
