Schychts' tenement house, Art Nouveau tenement house in Katedralna, Poland

Schychts' tenement house is a five-story Art Nouveau building with two rows of balconies on the front facade, decorated with feminine masks and floral patterns. The front combines triple semi-circular windows at the top with intricate animal masks and geometric designs throughout its composition.

Architect Gustaw Landau-Gutenteger designed this residential building in 1904 for Alwina and Gustaw Schicht with detailed architectural elements of the period. The building became part of Łódź's cultural heritage and now holds protected status on the Polish cultural heritage register.

The building showcases typical features of the Polish Art Nouveau movement through its geometric shapes and plant motifs visible on the facades and window frames. These design elements reflect the artistic preferences that defined Łódź at the start of the 20th century.

The building is located at 128 Piotrkowska Street and is easily accessible from the street to admire its facade. Visitors can view the architectural details from street level, where the intricate design of the balconies and windows becomes particularly clear.

The facade features an unusual combination of animal motifs alongside the feminine masks, creating a rare decorative diversity. This mix of animal and female representations makes the building a distinctive example of the experimental side of Łódź's Art Nouveau style.
