Zespół budynków mieszkalno-usługowych „Bolek” i „Lolek” w Łodzi

Two white residential buildings, named Bolek and Lolek, feature concrete panels with emphasized joints and lacquered wooden elements on their facades.

The residential complex, designed by architects Bolesław Kardaszewski and Joanna Matuszewska, was constructed between 1978 and 1984 on a site of former 19th-century structures.

The building Bolek received its name through a newspaper readers' poll, referencing the architect's name, while Lolek references a Polish animated series.

Located at Zamenhofa Street 1/3 and 5, the buildings underwent renovation in 2020-2021, including thermal modernization while preserving original architectural details.

These structures represent the last major architectural project of Bolesław Kardaszewski, combining both modernist and postmodernist architectural elements in their design.
