Karol Scheibler's tenement house

Karol Scheibler's tenement house is a multi-story residential building on Piotrkowska Street with classical architectural details. The structure has eight pilasters running between the windows and features a distinctive roof design that shapes the upper facade.

Construction began in 1844 under architect Hilary Majewski's direction and was later influenced by Franciszek Chelminski. Between 1891 and 1897, the building underwent further renovations that added new architectural elements.

The building is named after a prosperous factory owner and reflects how wealthy industrialists lived in the city. This type of multi-unit residential building was typical housing for successful businesspeople of the 1800s.

The building is now home to the Faculty of Organization and Management at Lodz University of Technology. Visitors should know this is an active university building, so access and viewing times may be limited depending on academic schedules.

The building gained a tower on its southern section during renovation work, which significantly changed its appearance. This added tower became a defining feature that gave the structure a more distinctive look.
