The monument depicts Hipolit Cegielski leaning against a steam engine, standing on a pedestal at the corner of two central streets in Poznań.
The statue, unveiled on September 19, 2009, honors the 19th-century industrialist who established a major manufacturing company in the region during Poland's industrial revolution.
The memorial represents the spirit of economic patriotism and organic work, values that characterized the development of Greater Poland in the 19th century.
Visitors can find the statue near Plac Wiosny Ludów, with the first Cegielski mechanical works once operating on the nearby Kozia Street.
The bronze casting was completed by the Brązart workshop of Juliusz and Barbara Kwiecinski in Pleszew, following designs by Poznań sculptor Krzysztof Jakubik.
